These pants reminded me of a space suit. And aluminium foil. In other words: straight to check out. I tried on the matching gold bomber jacket too, a super fun look that unfortunately was more Ali G than sartorial supergirl. (Then again, is there such a thing as too much gold? Didn’t think so.) I hadnâ€™t been able to capture this outfit but one of my readers was so kind to e-mail me a link to this picture taken at LFW outside the Topshop show venue – how fittingly.

So that bandwagon took me forever to jump on, but I’m finally on Instagram! You can find me on username yaragotstyle (which is the same I use on Twitter). I thought I should do it with commitment or not at all and now I finally have the time to figure it all out. The almost golden sunlight in Paris is magical. Especially when you get to enjoy it on a Sunday (what’s in a name!) while wearing your new The Kooples trousers and having breakfast in a romantic French cafÃ© with buttery croissants, coffee, a dear friend and an empty schedule. Then again, anyything in life is sunnier when there’s croissants involved.

I can’t deny my love for white spaces, and since they’re so neutral a make-over possibility is never far away. A few rustic, romantic or industrial elements totally turn these white rooms around. I’m thinking of adding one bright or totally black wall to my home, to spice things up. What’s your favorite picture? Paris Fashion Week Day 3 outfit

Paris Fashion Week has been a mad house. We’re here with the entire ELLE team (an insanely fun work trip!) and I haven’t been at our apartment for an hour straight. So here’s a quick post showing you what I wore yesterday, with my super sweet friend and colleague Nicole right before we attended the Viktor & Rolf show. Gotta run now, last few hours here!

PS. how on EARTH do you stop your mohair jumper from falling out?! I’m turning everyone within a 5 meter radius into a yellow fuzzball and apparently people aren’t really that in to that…

Packing for Paris Fashion Week

These are some of my FW life savers that I made sure to bring along: a perfect party dress (this one is by Stylestalker), big and sparkly jewelry and my favorite make-up to turn any look around (Topshop has the cutest lipstick shades). Playing around in Esprit

I was invited to play around with some of my favorite pieces from the new Esprit collection. Sure, I enjoy a good dress up, and just like that me and Chantal (who shot these pics in a few minutes, right before it got dark. I guess we blocked the fact that it’s fall now and gets dark at six!) were off to the renewed Amsterdam store.

That fluffy coat pulled me in like a magnet, after I had already seen in London and I also put a look together with those navy blue cigarette pants that were beyond comfortable and would be cool with any imaginable top. A fun afternoon that left me convinced I not only still need that sheep jacket to survive winter but that Cheers jumper too. And did you start fall shopping yet? Tell me about your wish list!

The new spirit of Esprit

With fashion veterans Gisele BÃ¼ndchen and Erin Wasson as poster girls, you know a brand is on the right track. Esprit has been taking on a new course for the past year of so and I got to witness the new brand direction myself when I hopped on an airplane to London to see their new capsule collection by three young, promising Royal College of Arts design students. (So yes, all these items are from their store)

I wasnâ€™t sure what to expect, I wasnâ€™t too familiar with the new Esprit spirit yet, and can say I was pleasantly surprised. This capsule collection is a bit more edgy (with an oversized mohair knit and a fluffy wool coat that looks exactly like a sheep rug and is all I want to be wearing this fall) and I also found some favorites in the regular collection. The main line seems a bit French inspired and more toned down, with a lot of deep red, forest green and navy blue. Other top picks: a structured wool skirt with a Marant-feel, a high waisted leather skirt and that off white Cheers jumper. Youâ€™ll see me playing around in some of these items soon!

I can’t believe how long ago London already feels (insert sad face). To hold on to those better, sunnier times I’ll just keep bombarding you with Fashion Week posts. This scuba skirt will most definitely make it’s way in to my Paris suitcase, it should be great with little mohair jumpers, non?
